President Director of BKI, Mr. Rudiyanto through the BKI Corporate Communication Mr. Sjaifuddin Thahir, congratulated for Mr. Lim Ki-tack on his election as the new IMO Secretary General starting from 1 January 2016. Mr. Lim Ki-tack from South Korea, the president of the Busan Port Authority, has been elected as the secretary general of the IMO at The session 114 of IMO Council. In an interview with the CEO of Maritime on May 2015, Lim said has four main goals for his tenure at the IMO. Lim beat the other candidates Andreas Chrysostomou-Republic of Cyprus; Vitaly Klyuev-Russian Federation; Dr. Q. Maximo Mejia, Jr.-Republic of the Philippines; Andreas Nordseth-Kingdom of Denmark; and Juvenal Shiundu-Republic of Kenya.

Mr. Lim views and expectations are:
   
increasing funds for technical cooperation for capacity development are significant.
    
promoting the existence of the IMO on the world stage and,
    
creating an efficient and productive secretariat.
    
devoting significant efforts to minimize the 'human error' that is responsible for which 90% of the causes of marine accidents is human error.

Lim is an experienced sailor, having served as a naval officer and a qualified ship's captain. Lim is a graduate of the Korea Maritime University and the World Maritime University. Lim has 30 years of experience as a public official in the maritime industry, having held administrative positions in policy-making fisheries, shipbuilding, shipping and port management. (PUJ / 2015)
