MR tanker Stena Imagination was named at the Port Rashid Terminal in Dubai on April 18. The vessel is jointly owned on a 50-50 basis by Swedish Stena Bulk and Indonesian Golden Agri Resources (GAR). “Naming the Stena Imagination in Dubai is very much a strategic choice. Stena Bulk recently opened an office here together with Stena Weco and Golden Stena Weco,” Erik Hånell, President & CEO of Stena Bulk and CEO of Stena Weco, said. Stena Imagination is the seventh of a total of thirteen 50,000 dwt IMOIIMAX tankers ordered by Stena Bulk from Chinese shipbuilder Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI). Delivered in July 2016, the ship is operated by Stena Weco and sails in the company’s global logistics system, which currently employs some 60 vessels. On April 23, Stena Imagination, which features a length of 183 meters and a width of 32 meters, will leave for East Africa with a cargo of diesel oil. Ten of the thirteen tankers were handed over to their owners in 2015 and 2016. The remaining three vessels will be delivered by 2018, according to Stena Bulk. Five of the 13 IMOIIMAX tankers are wholly owned by Stena Bulk, four together with GAR, two by Stena Bulk’s sister company Concordia Maritime and two by Stena Weco. http://worldmaritimenews.com/archives/218082/gallery-stena-imagination-named-in-dubai/
